Edinburgh Festival Fringe marketing

The Edinburgh Fringe is the world’s biggest arts festival – each August some of the most exciting creatives from around the world come together to showcase their talents. Some of the most groundbreaking creative work happens in the city, with The Fringe Festival developing and making reputations, giving artists of all levels a chance to break through.

Edinburgh Fringe PR

The Edinburgh Festival Fringe is host to emerging talent, as well as most of the UK and international media outlets, not to mention PR agencies in Edinburgh - it’s a highly competitive environment.

Mobius has been attending the Fringe for the last 20 years, securing creative press coverage for some of the most inventive shows and companies every August. We work closely with theatre and dance companies, circus, cabaret and comedy shows to create Edinburgh Fringe Festival posters and flyers, and to deliver PR campaigns.

Our recent clients include the Untapped Awards, Ontroerend Goed, LUNG, Le Gateau Chocolat, Rhum and Clay, Chris Thorpe, RashDash, Seiriol Davies, Sherman Theatre, Adam Riches, Ciaran Dowd, Ad Infinitum, China Plate, From Start to Finnish, Swiss Selection Edinburgh, Scottish Dance Theatre and the Royal Court.

Our Edinburgh Fringe Festival marketing highlights

We had a great year of press coverage at the Edinburgh Fringe in 2024, with TV coverage from BBC News, BBC Scotland and STV, radio everywhere from Virgin Radio to BBC Radio Scotland, and features in a range of national newspapers, alongside hundreds of reviews – including many in the Guardian, Telegraph, Scotsman, List, Fest and Stage.

How Edinburgh Fringe marketing works

Our Edinburgh Fringe PR campaigns can help drive sales or help boost a client's profile to help with the future life of the show or the company. Coverage has got tougher over the years, with many journalists coming for shorter spells and the arts space shrinking, but we stay on top of the challenges and work creatively to counter them.

We start with an Edinburgh fringe press release designed to cut through the noise, pitch to journalists including an in-person pitch trip to Scotland ahead of the festival and keep track of all reviewer ticket bookings.
Reviews are much more evenly spread across the duration of the festival than in past years, and in 2024 we achieved nearly as many reviews in Week 3 as we did in the first week of the festival. Filming opportunities are also spread out across the festival, and we work until the very last day to maximise coverage and reach as much as possible. You can find some of our favourite pieces of coverage from Edinburgh 2024 here.
